Tomix HA+HB+HC set availability

I've been looking into purchasing Tomix's Finetrack HA+HB+HC patterns build the combo patten they show on their site. I've found it incredibly hard to find the actual sets anywhere though. All the online sites seem to be sold out of them, and Yodobashi doesn't have any listed in stock online. I'll be in Japan in a month and I was hoping to snatch up all three while I was there.

Maybe I don't know enough about Tomix's release schedule but is it normal for newer sets like this to be completely out of stock? Does anyone know of some secret places get these around there?

You can check the stock at Model Imon shops from their web site at https://www.imon.co.jp/  The product search box is at the left of the page.

I just checked the 91043 and it is currently available at the Shibuya, Oi, Yokohama, Akihabara and Ikebukuro stores.

Hobby Search has:

HC in stock  https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10494378

HB available to be reserved  https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10536121 Bu no fixed release date.

HA is sold out https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10536120

This quite often the case in Japan. I've often had to order what I could when it was available  Western style warehouses are rare in Japan. Things are released, sellout within 3-6 months, then have to be reserved again. are released and then sellout again in a few months.

You might find you’ll have to shop around a bit while you’re here. I tend to find , due to the sheer range of rail sets that Tomix produce, I’ve never been to a shop that has the full range available, unlike say the Kato ranges. You could also try the Tomix shop as they are most likely to have what you can’t find elsewhere but be prepared to pay the full whack for it. If you’ll be in Tokyo, there is a much better choice of places to try.

Yodobashi in Fukuoka no longer carry much railway stuff anymore due to Poppondetta opening. It used to be the go to place for trains. Even the prices are not as attractive as they used to be. Even with 10% in points and free delivery they are still more expensive than some other stockists.

Yep, maybe I was a little overly-hopeful to find them all in one place.

I'll just roam around while I'm there trying to get the sets wherever I can and then worry about whatever I can't find when I come back. I also priced out buying each piece individually which isn't that far off from the set price but I'm sure takes up much more suitcase room.

@bill937ca I did see the one on Hobby Search but that comes with a lovely $60 in shipping so I'd love for that to be a last resort.

@Kamome have you been to the Tomix shop? I've stopped by the Kato one every time I'm there just to look around but never knew a Tomix one existed until I was looking around on Google maps this week. I'm down with paying list prices considering the alternative comes with crazy shipping costs but I just don't know what to expect out of their showroom.

Dunno if i read correctlyy. But those big sets come with huge inturnal packaging. They will take up alot more space than buying individual 4x or 12x track pieces. And all that extra stryofoam adds to cubic inches hence bigger shipping costs.

@katoftw I previously purchased the Tomix C+D set when I was out there last year and found they were packed pretty dense. There was very little free room in in the box with only one or two cardboard fillers. I took those out and stashed other stuff I bought in the space and it's arguably tighter than I probably could have gotten without being in one box.

I went to the old one in Omiya but they have since moved closer to central Tokyo. I think @railsquid mentioned the new address a while back but I can’t remember exactly which area of Tokyo it’s now in.

They did have a lot of stuff that I couldn’t find elsewhere, perhaps due to the price point and I passed up some HO locos on ex-display/reclaimed stock clearance which I later regretted. Not sure how good the new shop is but the old one was pretty good to find Tomytec and HO products that are difficult to find elsewhere. I’d hope you’d have the same luck with track sets.

See thread here:

It's now "Tomix Tokyo Showroom" and is literally that, nothing really for sale and a pale shadow of the Omiya shop. I
