Hakubi Line
Has anyone used the Kato Suburban Overhead Walkway (23-234) with other platforms besides the ones that go with the Suburban Station (23-126, 23-127)? With many other Kato platform sets having underground walkways, would the 23-234 be considered redundant? Link to comment
katoftw
That walkway is from a era well and truly gone. Some stations still have them. Especially in rural locations due to the station not having an upgrade since new. But most city stations would have had them removed 20+ years ago. Of course it depends on the era you are modelling. 60/70/80s, no issue. 90/00s, you'd have to be more creative depending on the layout station. Link to comment
Kiha66
The Kato Suburban Overhead Walkway (23-234) represents a modernized (or more recently built) overhead walkway. The Kato Rural Overhead Walkway (23-224) represents the as built or older style of walkway. Underground walkways are pretty rare outside of the main cities, so overhead walkways are very much still in use in many stations. They're prototypical in a lot of stations, so feel free to add one if you like the look! There's a prototype for everything, and the station that Kato used as a model for the suburban walkway still has it in use to this day. https://www.google.com/maps/@35.311196,139.3132277,81m/data=!3m1!1e3 1 Link to comment
Takahama Trainwatcher
Here's what they have at Takahama (on the JR Joban line): https://www.google.com/maps/@36.1633654,140.295203,116m/data=!3m1!1e3 The street view (https://www.google.com/maps/@36.1639874,140.2944061,3a,75y,138.2h,78.48t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sUWNwdCGKFhNFiW0sjPjMhw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) gives a good view. Other side: https://www.google.com/maps/@36.1634096,140.295269,3a,75y,310.56h,76.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sqQb_-GxFGqtlCjCoHTuQow!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 The rapid trains through here are about 45-50 minutes to Ueno. Local services (E531) that stop at Takahama take significantly longer. Every 30 minutes. Never really sure how to describe it... I tend to say "semi-rural", a lovely mix of housing, commerce, industry and farms. Link to comment
