ben_issacs
Folks, An interesting feature of Japanese tramways was (maybe still is), the running of 'Flower Cars'. These are highly decorated cars that appear on the system at special times, Emperor's birthday, centennial of the system, New Years Day, etc. These are usually ex works cars, the flowers now-a-days are probably plastic. On a visit to Nagasaki's tram depot, we discovered a flower car at the back of the shed. You Tube probably has shots of these vehicles. Modelling in N scale, not easy. Tomytec has a set, something like 'Akita Regional Rly', which has a little four-wheeled freight motor hauling a de=motored DMU. This little car could form the basis for a Flower Car. For the actual 'floral' decorations, there is plenty of stuff in the diaorama section in Hobby Search. Some of these cars also are fitted with a multitude of electric light globes, possibly could be done with a stack of LED's, but Whether these when operating would trip the circuit breaker? ben_issacs
Folks, What would 'Flower Car' be in Romanised Japanese? My very wild guess would be 'Shidensha no hana'. REgards, Bill, Melbourne. Link to comment
