John P Boogerd
On the Woodland Scenics website it says that Kato USA has a 4x8 HO track plan that should be used with unitrack instead of the plan on the box but I can’t find it. Link to comment
bill937ca
Whoops, that was N scale. No I don't see it either. https://www.katousa.com/track-plans/ho-plans.html Edited January 14, 2020 by bill937ca Link to comment
cteno4
Contact katoUSA, they are sometimes very helpful, other times distracted... jeff Link to comment
RogerK
John, Not real clear what you are referring to when you say "instead of the plan on the box". The box for what? Kato USA does have HO track plan examples linked under the HO Scale tab, including PLAN 5, which is 4x8 Hope this is what you're looking for ... Roger Link to comment
John P Boogerd
Their Scenic Ridge HO layout comes in a box with a layout plan for Atlas track The q&a on their site says Kato USA has a track plan to use instead for unitrack HO. Link to comment
katoftw
Might just be a typo on the woodland scenic website. Link to comment

John Scenic Ridge is a N Scale layout which Kato has a version of. If you look at WS Layout page Scenic Ridge sits between 2 HO plans looking like a HO plan but its not. There is a problem with the WS layouts. They are designed with Atlas track Packs and those plans are a hodgepodge of track pieces to fit a 4 x 8. The Atlas tracks has smaller radius tracks that allows for the fitment of a 4x8.. Kato Unitrack especially HO has a limited radii of track pieces. Kato HO radii forces you outside of the 4x8 area. Look at Kato WGH plan it is 48x106. You need the extra length to make the layout balanced (Boarder to track) In most cases it takes 2 to 3 tries to get a good layout established. Because of that I recommend getting the modular units as you can reuse them or replace sections that you don't like. Short term modeling these kits are ok. Long term modeling plan your own. Its all about spending your hobby dollars wisely. Inobu Link to comment
