deathletter
Hello all! If everything goes well, I will be visiting Japan in a few months for the first time in almost 30 years! I am interested in buying some N scale trains while I am there. I will be staying in Tokyo and Yamaguchi Prefecture. I did find the Hobby Center Kato store in the Shinjuku area and I really want to check it out. I am looking for more train store recommendations and I hope that you all can give me some guidance. New trains are great and I have no problem buying used trains as long as they are in good working order. Does Japan even have any used train shops? I know that I can search online. But I am certain that some of you visit Japan or live there and have train stores that are your favorites. Anyway, any help / guidance / advice would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! 😁 Link to comment

Madsing
Hello deathletter, This is my train shop address book, i.e. the shops I usually visit when I travel to Tokyo (that's just my opinion, I am not promoting or affiliated with any of them 😀) I'm sure that there are a lot more. Currently, my preferred shop is Models IMON. Either in Yokohama, Shibuya (new flagship store) or Akihabara. They are tax free for foreigners, and usually offer good discounts. Check their store guide here: https://www.imon.co.jp/webshop/index.php?main_page=addon&module=mt_pages&page=shop I also often buy products at Yodobashi (Yokohama, Shinjuku or Akihabara). Also tax free, plus extra VISA discount. Tam Tam also has a lot of products, but they don't sell tax free. I like Popondetta for second hand products, but also not tax free. Khaul
I am flying to Japan tomorrow for work. I will pay a visit to IMON. Let's see if the motivation to work on my modules comes back. RoundHouse has re-released the Tsunami line 205. That would be a nice addition to my collection. 1 1 Link to comment

deathletter
I'm sorry for reviving this old thread but I thought that I would give you all an update. We were supposed to leave in two days (March 25th) but then we pushed that back to April 20, 2020. Because of the situation in regards to the virus, we went ahead and cancelled the trip. We plan on going next year if nothing comes up again that would affect our plans. My search for JNR/JR freight items will have to wait unless I get lucky somewhere. Stay safe everyone! 😊 Link to comment
