TRod
I live in Perth, Western Australia. I work in a commercial contract and engineering support field for the Navy. Very, very good job. I have aptitude testing for a job as a rail car driver, that's metro passenger trains in a few weeks. Yay! Damn excited. Drive trains for a job, who wouldn't want to do that? 5 Link to comment

Socimi
I've also just been called by Trenitalia for an aptitude test on the 19th of November! YAY! Edited November 13, 2019 by Socimi 5 Link to comment
TRod
Sorry, been off the air for a few months. Out of 2600 applicants l made it to the final 100ish and am in the pool of candidates for the next 12 months. Didn't get the first intake in Feb, but I'm in the pool and swimming towards the shallow end so to speak. Training is 6 months then 3 months probation doubled up with another driver. Fingers crossed l get a position. Edited February 11, 2020 by TRod 1 Link to comment

TRod
Italy, cool. I'm a bit tired so it took another 30 seconds for the penny to drop. Link to comment

TRod
Yeah same kind of thing for me. The train network here is expanding so they will have at least 2 more intakes this year after February's one which l didn't get into. Back to the desk job. Link to comment

Same HR system for our driver intakes. Horrible slow wait for you turn. Edited February 2, 2020 by katoftw Link to comment

RossDensha
I'm not the Ross you know. Not that I know of anyway... 😳 Not a railcar driver either. Just someone who posts without thinking 🙄 Shame you didn't get in, but as you say, the network's expanding! Link to comment

katoftw
Train driving and shift work. No time for hobbies or boats. Your life is just work and sleep now. Link to comment
cteno4
Yes boats need to be separated off, a boat is not a hobby, a boat becomes your life. jeff Link to comment
E231-500
Congrats on the job TRod. I used to drive for Transperth about 12 years ago. Been through a few train driving jobs since but currently working at Train control for Rio Tinto. I really miss driving trains but with Rio going driverless it was a good opportunity to try train control. And don't let anyone tell you that shift work = no hobbies. I've managed it successfully for the last 18 odd years!! Have fun out there, and maybe one day ill come back and join you! Edited May 16, 2021 by E231-500 Link to comment
