cteno4
Man seeing the nice Tomytec 1/80 narrow gauge coming out almost makes me want to do some ho! Maybe a little sectional narrow gauge setup. No, no more hobbies... jeff 2 Link to comment
marknewton
Go on Jeff - you know you want to! 😉 I bought a number of these models to take along to the narrow gauge convention, mainly to show people what was available in RTR, so I suppose I should build something to at least display them on. All the best, Mark. Link to comment
cteno4
Yeah I figured there would be some pushers! I’d love to hear your reactions to them. Detail issues take a big jump from n to ho scale. I’ve avoided ho due to space it requires and I do like some of the fun you can do with the mind’s eye at n scale more. Narrow would help on space but most if seen were expensive stuff, this looks reasonable to get a few and have a fun little sectional loop on a few modules. id appreciate any feed back on them and any info in min radius curves. thanks formthe pushing... Kamome
I have a few of the Tomytec Naro Kiha railcars. They are indeed a very low cost way to get started. They generally use one of two motor units. The rail cars are all based around the same motor unit and the small locos the other. As I’m sure you’ve seen, they have since introduced a steam loco version which comes boxed with the compatible sets. What I like: -They are super cheap. - They are an unusual/interesting prototype -expanding range - some interesting additions coming soon. -super easy to add power units -good detailing/weathering project -nice range of complimenting figures. What I don’t like -The Tomytec metal upgrade parts all come with super shiny metal wheels - The rapido couplers look horrible and don’t work well. - lack of interior details - Due to weight, the small motor units are ok but not great runners. Here is one of my examples. As a little test, I added a few detail parts from my spares box.
