paolo
So yesterday I went to the new Tomix World shop near Kanda. It's in a building right in front of the JR station exit, next to a Family Mart. It's on the 7th floor. You can see this sign at the entrance: You take the elevator and you get to the shop, which is actually a big room: There's a nice layout, with many sets running: There are a few of the new/upcoming releases nicely displayed: From the window, you can get an amazing view of the Ueno-Tokyo line: There are a few sets available to buy. The prices were not displayed, but I'm guessing they're not that cheap, compared to the nearby shops in Akihabara: I never went to the old Tomix shop, so I cannot compare the two. 6 4 Link to comment

ben_issacs
Folks, A friend, recently returned from Japan, says that the new Tomix shop is much smaller than the old Tomix World shop, and with nothing for sale, and was not worth visiting. Earlier on, Kato moved from their shop in Esaka in Osaka to a smaller place in Kyoto JR Station. Could high rents have caused these moves? Regards, Bill, Melbourne. Link to comment
katoftw
The photos in the other new Tomix world thread show it being much smaller. Edited August 12, 2019 by katoftw Link to comment

bill937ca
A video of the Tomix Showroom taken one year ago. “I photographed TOMIX products displayed at the TOMIX showroom. The content of the exhibition changes from time to time, so it may differ from the content of the video. In order to prevent infectious diseases, we will be filming outside of business hours.” Link to comment
MeTheSwede
This is what Tomix Showroom looks like in 2025. (Edit: As this thread is old and not named well, maybe I should have started a new one?) Edited January 10 by MeTheSwede 2 Link to comment

bc6
Why are they scrubbing the tracks Id be using a Tomix track cleaning car lol. Link to comment
cteno4
My suspicion is that the Tomix rail cleaner is not a super low dielectric cleaner and they may be on the cleaning - micro arcing/black gunk creation loop with constant running. We got into this loop before on the club layout with heavy running with isopropyl alcohol cleaning (pre moving to low dielectric cleaners). At the time a few times we tried Tomix rail cleaner instead of isopropanol and had the exact same result with black gunk buildup, so we went back to isopropanol as it was much cheaper and accessible and did not have the whiff of urinal cakes that Tomix rail cleaner can have (don’t know if the formulation Tomix rail cleaner has changed but it use to smell of the urinal cakes used at one of the facilities we showed at a few times a year!). the Tomix car is decent cleaner if tracks are not totally mucked up, but if heavy, hand cleaning is much more effective than the Tomix car. Also with a higher dielectric cleaner on it you are spreading a lot of the substance that will be promoting the microarcing and gunk later. When I use to use the Tomix cleaner car with fluid I found it polished off the top of the rail head well but there was a nice line of gunk just over the edge which wheel flange corners could push back up and spread. Do love the vaccum abilities of the tomix cleaner car, always amaze the crap it picks up along with a ton of puzz. jeff 1 Link to comment
