Japanese Saw

I discovered this tool in the blog of a Japanese modeler. When we cannot use the electric saw or the set-up time does not justify it, the Japanese saw is a tremendously effective tool.

Pull saws are wonderful! You would be amazed what you can build with them! I have about 4 different sizes and like you said they are perfect for the odd cuts or something quick, yet clean. The flush cutting ones are useful if you do any dowel joints.

 

I have a friend that is deep into fine woodworking and taken some Japanese wood crafting classes where all you use is a pull saw and chisel. First half of the class is sharpening the tools properly!

I have a few different sizes and a flush cut one that I use in making the electric bass (and eventually standard) guitars.   Super awesome tools to have.
