marknewton
I came across this interesting photo on the Toin town website. It shows a (derailed) steam-hauled train of the Hokusei Railway at Sohara shortly after the line opened in 1914. The line was electrified in 1931 and was renamed the Hokusei Electric Railway in 1934, but the little Koppel seen here survived until at least the early 1960s, when it was photographed tucked away in the back of the car shed at Ageki. The elegant clerestory roof passenger cars also lasted into the 1960s, as they were modified for use as trailer cars for the electric stock after 1931. Cheers, Mark. https://www.town.toin.lg.jp/cmsfiles/contents/0000004/4053/6.jpg From: https://www.town.toin.lg.jp/contents_detail.php?co=kak&frmId=4053 3 Link to comment
