Special trains for change of Era in Japan at midnight 30th. April.

Folks, 

At midnight on the 30th. April, the present Emperor of Japan,  will abdicate, thus marking the end of the Heisei  Era, and the beginning of the Heiwa Era.

Many Japanese Railways are putting on special night trains to mark this occasion.

For details of these celebrations go to the Mainichi newspaper web site.

This must be the first Japanese Emperor to abdicate, reigns usually have ended with the death of the Emperor.
