shadowtiger25
What are these for, and what are they made off? I won an auction on a uniform from JNR and these as well as a nice vintage map are included 3 Link to comment
railsquid
The one in the middle commemorates the opening of the Joetsu Shinkansen between Omiya and Niigata, the one on the right evidently something Shinkansen-related which happened in 1972, no idea about the one on the left. 1 1 Link to comment
marknewton
The medallion on the right was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the government railway. The reverse side has an image of the first steam loco to run between Tokyo and Yokohama. Here’s mine: I think the small badge on the left is a JGR/JNR merit or service badge. I have one like it, and that was how it was described by the bloke who gave it to me. This website has a lot of useful information on Japanese military and civil medals and awards: http://imperialjapanmedalsandbadges.com/civrailPTIER.html Cheers, Mark. I'm going to volunteer on some excursion trains ran by a local museum wearing a full uniform with that pin on it. I got a full uniform in nice condition, these, a hand bag, and a nice railway map from 1963, all for 3000 yen! https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p677984344 Edited April 1, 2019 by shadowtiger25 1 Link to comment

ben_issacs
shadowtiger, Don't forget the white gloves if you wear your Japanese railway uniform. Not everyone wore them, but they'd be a nice touch. They were usually woollen for men, the girls had finer fabric ones. Regards, Bill, Melbourne. Link to comment
