Sheffie
So, if I buy an EP481-15L or R, I get a bunch of extra bits thrown in: an R481-15 curve, two S64 straights, an S60L and an S60R, to guarantee being able to do all the clever things you might possibly want to. So far, so good. What if I buy the Y variant? Does that come with any extras? I'm trying to figure out how to improve the track layout, and I'm not sure if what I want is possible (or rather, if it requires extra purchases). Link to comment

Kiha66
The wye matches a r481-15 in each direction, so where ever you could fit one of those it will work. Unlike the EP481-15 switches there will be no clearance issues in the ballast, so the extra pieces of track are not necessary. It looks like if you use an R249-15 on the ends of the switch you can fit the kato rural platforms as an island in between the tracks.
