I also forgot to mention this Wiki page https://ja.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/JR貨物のコンテナ形式 , it has a decent listing of many types of containers, there are a number where there is no information but at least you get to see telegraphic codes for them and are more than likely to find photos of them in one of the number of Japanese sites that specialise in containers. You can use Google Translate to try and garner more information about each type, mind you you'll have to use a bit of Japanese logic in trying to describe things to make sense of some of the translations.

There's about three years difference between the releases, so I guess a few dollars is a fair price increase.

I just realized I haven't asked a question I really needed an answer to: how long are the models? How long is a 4-car Koki 106/107 train going to be on the track,?

Each car is about 14cm/5.5", so your looking at a little bit shy of 60cm/2' for 4 cars, add the loco on your looking at about another 15cm/6" tops unless you're using an articulated unit like an EH200 or EH500 where you would be pushing it out a bit further.

When I was in Japan I saw a number of 50000's retrofitted as welded rail carriers - I don't know however if they were still JRF property (and thus being used to deliver rail from steel mills to the various railways) or if the belonged to one of the JRs.
