Guest bill937ca
If you are looking for some reading material on Japanese trains to pass away a snowy weekend have a look at JRTR.net website and the back issues of Japan Railway and Transport Review. http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/start.html Link to comment

Guest bill937ca
Hi Bill, Thanks for the reading and where is it snowing? I'm down in Long Island, New York and today it was a shocking 60! On the north shore of Lake Ontario between Toronto and Montreal. Since a week ago Wednesday we've had hurricane force winds last Wednesday, 210mm of snow during the first 12 hours of a 20 hour storm last Friday and Saturday, 50 mm of snow Wednesday morning and another 100 mm last night. There's an Alberta Clipper coming on Saturday and an Artic Air Mass next week. Bernard
Bill, Take care. A couple of weeks ago there was a snow scare in the NYC area, the snow fell but it was wet so it didn't stick. But that didn't stop the snow plows, the state call for them so they went and I was 3 plow one behind the other plowing the pavement. Link to comment
bill937ca
A quick search turned up nothing recent for the now suspended Japan Railway & Transport Review. Still, the articles listed in its back issues remain online and provide a wealth of knowledge that recent members may not be aware of. http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/backissue/index_backissue.html Why Did Japan Choose the 3'6" Narrow Gauge? http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/jrtr31/pdf/f33_sai.pdf Japanese Private Railway Companies and Their Business Diversification http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/jrtr10/pdf/f02_sai.pdf Development of Japanese High-speed Rail Network Overview of Hokkaido Shinkansen (Opening between Shin-Aomori and Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto) http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/jrtr68/pdf/6-13.pdf One Year After Hokuriku Shinkansen Opening http://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/jrtr68/pdf/26-33.pdf 1 2 Link to comment
miyakoji
Thanks for the post Bill. Over the years I've read some pdfs from this site, but I was unaware that they'd stopped producing their English publication. I agree it's a great resource, but I do have to wonder what the overall readership is. 2 Link to comment
lesliegibson
Wow! Thank you everyone for the contributions. I had no idea that this type of document existed in English. Will take my time and study every section. Link to comment
cteno4
These are wonderful documents. Many were printed once as a book which I have from way back. Really nice to have them in pdf. Btw they print well. jeff Link to comment
bill937ca
I had occasion to look this web site up yesterday. It is still there although they stopped updating years ago. https://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/ Back Issues https://www.ejrcf.or.jp/jrtr/backissue/index_backissue.html 3 Link to comment
cteno4
Glad to see they are still up. Make sure to download the PDFs if you are interested as these are the sort of sites that go poof eventually. Wish they were still publishing. Good stuff. jeff 1 Link to comment
