It is interesting to hear about the sightseeing train in Hokkaido.  I always thought that JR East would have been first to move into Hokkaido with one of their loco hauled trains for a cruise train of some thought.

Not super-rare though. Though usually the adjacent multi-purpose toilet is preferable. I speak from experience.

Yup, can find them in mens restrooms in Aeon shopping malls all over the nation.  May have been rare 20 years ago, but now pretty standard in recent construction, especially where families are likely to gather.
