Pauljag900
So as previously mentioned I ll start a new thread for the new layout as I ve used the same one for five years. So the new layout project will be known as Fukuoka Station. The boards just need modifying slightly to bring them out to 102cms depth,it measures 340 cm down the left hand side and 226cms across the back. Hopefull will have the baseboards done this week. I ve also removed the mirrors and will have a 15” backscene all around. 7 Link to comment

Pauljag900
So yesterday I measured up to fit a shelf to the front of the layout for the controllers and switches and realised I d bee adding almost 8” in total to the depth which is already at the maximum for reaching over to the back. Then when putting the boxes away underneath I saw this, which I d forgotten about, originally it was a shoe rack that just got “put in the shed out of the way” so I removed all the rubbish from it and tried it in position with the switches and controllers, perfect!! It also means that I can fix a solid piece of timber to the back and that’s where everything will be wired from. When not in use it will simply be pushed underneath the boards. 6 Link to comment

cteno4
Nice solution Paul! Love it when you find those odd bits from a totally different world that are the perfect solution for the model trains w.o having to go out ans cratvh engineer and build it! cheers, jeff Link to comment

Pauljag900
The weather kindly warmed up enough on Sunday and Monday for me to be able to paint the backscene and baseboards. yesterday I fixed the back scenes in place and glued the foam underlay to the baseboards. today I loosely started to lay some track. Just need a few curves to finish off the loops. I also need to modify the corner where the track comes around as it comes over the edge of the board which I knew it would but did nt know by how much till I laid the track.Thats tomorrow s job! Pauljag900
I think I ve worked out a way to make the pic files small enough to upload a decent picture on here so here s a slightly better one of the layout so far. Hopefully this weekend will see the loops completed with all crossovers and points in place plus the inclines at the back. 6 Link to comment

Pauljag900
Trackwork more or less complete, just a few pieces need replacing, like the crossing tracks etc. did the first track test on the two outer viaduct loops, all good. 3 Link to comment
Pauljag900
This morning i finshed the control board for the layout. it s probably over engineered but now I ve no need to touch any of these connections as everything is on plugable connectors,I ll simply wire the controllers, lights etc with the plug and simply plug into the socket part which is already connected to the board. The tracks are wired for three power supplies to each track but after running it yesterday on one per track I think I m going to put in two per track, one of which will be isolated via an on/off switch, this will allow me to park the trains in the “dead spot” while changing over trains or lanes. Next to do is to connect the power feeds to all the tracks. 7 Link to comment
Pauljag900
Spent this week finishing the control panel wiring, laying the outer track loops and fitting the power supply to the tracks. I also track tested with six trains running to check clearances etc,all good. next to do is to fit all the points and sidings and connect up to the main loops. 6 Link to comment

Pauljag900
Trackwork almost complete, just waiting for some 15 degree curves to finish off. All points are fitted and holes drilled through but not connected up yet. freight yard, Station area Tram roughly laid in place and what will be the city area. 9 Link to comment
