JR 500系
Compliments from the recent blog by MTP regarding Tomix new releases: It seems Tomix is going to release (or shall I say re-release) 3 Kiha-120 2-car box sets that were formerly released and discontinued. More information from HS site here: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/list/1702/0/1 And it seems all 3 sets have factory installed interior lights which is becoming a rarity. What interests me most is the Otio Line wrapping car! From MTP blog pictures and some googling on youtube, here's a video of the actual train: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeowV0yut3M I like the cartoons on it! 'Welcome to Otio Line!" Cute! Getting this for sure ~ Up for Pre-order on HS, MTP and Loco1. Edited July 14, 2014 by JR500 のぞみ Link to comment

JR 500系
Little Update on my wish list since now that Tomix has announced the E4 Max in NEW painting (E1 painting) and Kato has announced the E3-700 Toreyu... Could we please get Tomix to release E3-2000 Tsubasa Mandarin colour with power couplers please please please please please! We never had an E3-2000 in model before.... Link to comment

Pre-Orders just opened up for the Feb. 2015 release image.jpg Guess what? Not only Tomytec! http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10299616 I was kinda shocked to see this, a ready to run model made by Platz? Although it's not stated clearly in the description, I would guess so, due to the price. Not sure about the head and tail lights though... Link to comment
Densha
It's clear they want to have a competition, but we all know Tomytec's model is going to look better than that badly painted and assembled Platz thing. And it'll probably be cheaper as well: Tomytec's model with motorized chassis and all details will cost about ¥5500. Edited November 5, 2014 by Densha Link to comment
dabsan
It's great to see a choice in K-On trains being released. I have pre-ordered the Tomytec one. Last year I built the Platz kit and motorized it, I will post some photographs with it next to the Tomytec Tetsudou Musume Wrapping version. I wish someone would make the Gundam version :) 1 Link to comment
JR 500系
Probably old news, but nonetheless a painted train: http://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/kettei/pdf/20141113-1.pdf I kinda keep liking this one! Link to comment
JR 500系
Was browsing Tomix centre's website and spotted this: http://www.tomixworld.jp/newitem.html <93524> JR E233-7000系通勤電車 (さいたま市・川越市ラッピング) セット Kinda nice paintings stuck on the E233, perhaps the only E233 painted model we have at the moment? Clearly nice is there are always limited edition models only sold in Tomix Centre at Omiya, which makes me really excited to go! :) Link to comment
Densha
Looks like MicroAce decided to give this recent announcement priority over the eternal backlog: https://picasaweb.google.com/ngauge.information/20150116MICROACE32Vol202?authkey=Gv1sRgCLqBiLiX3eK7twE Apart from the ugly prototype, the painting and modelling also doesn't look like to be of high quality. I hope that it's only a mock model. And of course next month the Keihan 600 K-ON will be released, as well as some random KiHa with sakura and fall leaf stickers. https://picasaweb.google.com/ngauge.information/20150114TOMYTECVol1?authkey=Gv1sRgCNvRpKCUpLLw0gE Link to comment

cteno4
Well the prototype is sort of a mockup one off so this actually looks pretty close to the original. I actually like the kitch sendup of the prototype! Jeff Link to comment

Two trains from a very very long (94+ km) line in the middle of Tōhoku. I hope Tomytec will release the AN8900 or AN2000 as well some day... This company is considerable in length, but only has 15 train cars in operation. A very collectable thing IMO. Link to comment
Densha
Don't ask me, I was too lazy to research on it. That AN8800 looks like a KiHa 120. Sounds as if you suddenly feel the urge to get these. ;) 1 Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Sounds as if you suddenly feel the urge to get these. ;) The excuse that I keep for myself from not losing my mind is that I won't collect trains (anymore) from places I've never been to xD Link to comment
Densha
But if I do that I have to resort to European trains... But... considering I plan to go to Kyoto and Shikoku on my exchange next year, I guess it won't be valid from then. :D Edited January 25, 2015 by Densha Link to comment

velotrain
Although not Japanese, or even actual operating colors, I thought this switcher at the Cite du Trains museum in Mulhouse, France, easily qualified as a painted train. I believe the crane behind it is a Pechot model from WW I. 1 Link to comment
katoftw
Love the Kumamon 6211. Will have to put the motor in the non efWing car so the red interior can stay. 1 Link to comment
