David
There are plenty of photos of motormen on the passenger lines, but I'm coming up short on reference material for what the correct "uniform" is for JR Freight motormen. Does JR Freight use a formal uniform or is it more functional (overalls and cap style). (Some Kato N scale motormen - they don't seem to represent any specific line uniform, just generic seasonal colors) http://www.1999.co.jp/search_e.asp?Typ1_c=104&scope=1&scope2=0&urikire=1&itkey=motorman Link to comment
bill937ca
I have watched for clues in Videos, but it is hard to detect what they do. Staff don't show up in JR Freight Railway Festivals. Still I suspect train crew are in airline pilot style uniforms and yard crews in pale blue "blue collar" uniforms. If JRF had different uniforms won't somebody like Kato offer them? We have locos and containers In any event most N gauge uniforms are types rather than exact copies in my estimation. There's a uniformed crew member in the cab on this page. http://www.jrfreight.co.jp/transport/merit.html Finally, at 2:20 of this video is an engineer in a locomotive with white gloves and pilot style uniform. Hard to tell if it is freight or passenger, but it looks like a freight yard in the background. JR track crew. Coupling in a station. Other stuff along the way. This is a JRF Hiroshima depot railway festival JR East and JRF railway festival with shop uniforms but no train crew. Lots of interesting shots on this video but you can't see the crew. This is one of the Tokyo freight depots. Just long strips of asphalt and a couple of tracks, then more asphalt. Very little shunting goes on. http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~eg6f-tkhs/tetu/kosigaya.htm Link to comment
Guest ___
Shooting myself in the foot because I stumbled upon an entire book of JR East uniforms on Amazon.Jp while looking for train books Friday. It looked like a a softcover book and was ¥1500. If, I can navigate my way back to it, I'll psot the link. Link to comment

It looks like the yellow lines are marked for ~20m, with the trains parked so the individual cars line up with them. Link to comment

No, that's great. Since I'm looking to represent it in N scale I don't need to see every button (compare the level of detail on the Kato figures). Looks like dark blue jacket and pants, black shoes, small dark blue cap (no band), white gloves, two stripes on the cuffs and powder blue undershirt. The cut of the jacket suggests it has regular buttons on the front (not the longer style with big brass buttons). Obviously can't confirm if he's wearing a tie or what color. The TomyTec "Working People" sets have a couple of figures that are quite close (010, 011 & 012) Link to comment
