shadowtiger25
I just recived a Kato DD51 I bought at auction. (Got a good price for a working model. Only $85 new is 150!) But, unlike the newer version, it does not have an 8pin plug. I was just wanting to know if anyone knows how to hard wire a sound DCC decoder in to it Link to comment
Kiha66
I posted a how-to DCC hardwired install for this loco a few weeks ago. Adding a sound decoder shouldn't be too difficult, I would recommend installing speakers in the fuel tanks. If you want proper sound NGDCC makes a drop in sound decoder for this version, which I didn't go for as its quite pricey. I may upgrade in the future though.http://www.jnsforum.com/community/topic/14925-kato-ho-early-dd51-dcc-install http://www.snjpn.com/ngdcc/de32sx/de32sx_dd51k.htm Link to comment
shadowtiger25
Thank you for the info. I may go with a lock sound instead though. they have some German Diesel Hydraulics in their free sound library, so all I would need is that Japanese whistle in a .WAV file. But I will place speakers like that, maybe not so low, but I like it Link to comment
