sandiway
This set looks interesting: https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/n/91016.html https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/n/91017.html You can iterate 91017 as many times as one needs to get the length one desires. The thing is it's kinda of a half-assed Wide PC track, half regular Finetrack thing. Especially this picture: Does anyone know if this attachable ballast kit for converting regular Fine Track into wide PC track can fill in the gaps near the points properly? https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/n/3034.html 1 Link to comment
katoftw
These are re-releases. No you cannot add those PC wide pieces completely. The tracks in these yard sets use the station PC wide track pieces, so ballast one side and nothing the other. Then placed 18.5mm apart instead of 37mm apart. The washing and walkway stable road is 37mm apart though. 1 Link to comment

katoftw
Well you can buy the motor for the points. Link to comment
kvp
Actually the points part is just a track set you can assemble yourself from powered points or as Katoftw has said, you can just buy the motors as add-ons. The filler pieces are usable, you just have to cut some of them in half. The same is true for the wide pieces, they have half of the sides removable so you can use standard wide pieces to extend the tracks. Also you can get the same buffers separately and those would also come with lights. The overhead is just from a standard adjustable assemble kit, i've used it to build catenary for a ttrak station with Kato unitrack. The only special and new pieces are the pedestrian crossing tracks as afaik the washing equipment was also available in a separate kit in the past. It's just a very nice, fully picked and packaged set, so you can use it out of the box and don't have to assemble it from dozens of different packs. Link to comment
JR 500系
I have the extension set without the basic set, since technically I only need the crossing pieces which look really nice, along with the bits and pieces. Effect of the finished yard with the new pieces are great! 5 Link to comment

This means one track distance could be at standard and the rest must be at half distance. Wide tracks have removable ballasts on one side, allowing this easily. 1 Link to comment

So I could design this yard - 5 tracks all narrow with available parts. Link to comment
katoftw
https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/n/1767.html These would probably be the straights you need. Link to comment

Yes! I've never noticed them before in that S280 length. The S140, S72.5 and S70 I've seen in that one-sided ballasted style. Link to comment
Hayashi
Does the extension set come with 2 or 3 catenaries? The photo shows 2, but the write-up on Hobby Search indicates 3. Link to comment
katoftw
Looks like three judging by the photos of the included parts in the links provided above.]] But it will depend on how wide you make the yard. There may be only enough pieces to make two. It's a buildable catenary using 37mm and 18.5mm pieces to make on big wide catenary. These:- https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/n/3007.html + https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10150036 Edited September 11, 2018 by katoftw Link to comment

I expected that it would be flimsy, at first when I saw how you put it together by joining lots of small segments. But it's surprisingly strong. Really, a great product. Link to comment
sandiway
(Forgive my newness at yard design.) Other possible designs using this narrowTomix spacing. Differences of course in terms of parking space. Edited September 12, 2018 by sandiway 1 Link to comment
sandiway
For a yard with 5 instead of 4 tracks, I came up with these. Again, differences of course in terms of parking space. Link to comment

But do remember, if you like to use the yard parking set, then you need to have a 37' length for the railway crossing right before all that straights, and they need to be aligned together in a straight line for it to look nice, so I reckon it should be at where the top 2nd and 3rd curves (C280-15 & C541-15) stops. 1 Link to comment

Good point. I revise the design to this then. Link to comment
