Maxy
I like the Kato controlers but would like to place them on a different level than the power packs. Does someone make, or show how to make, an extension cable to accomplish this (instead of the standard direct connection)? Link to comment
katoftw
when you say controllers, you mean the switches for points/turnouts? if so:- https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10275141 https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10003120 https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10003117 Link to comment
kvp
You only need two of the 24-829 power adapters, one on the controller and one on the switches and just have to connect two power extension cords togerther (watch the polarities) and use the resulting cable to connect them. It's also possible to use Y splitters to power two or more rows of switches. ps: The AC adapter drops too much of the voltage to be powered by less than 16V AC, so not usable in this case. This is why the output adapter has to be used as an input on the side of the switches. Link to comment
Maxy
Yes, switch controllers for turnouts. Instead of plugging them into the power pack/transformer directly, I'm looking for a cable that will run from the transformer to the 24-840 switch. I am controlling 2 turnouts at once in a single situation, but that is on the output side, I'm looking for a cable running from a 22-014 power pack to the row of 24-840 switches on their input side. Sorry for the confusion in my original question. Link to comment

Connect two extension cables into a male-male adapter cable. Connect the two adapters with the combined adapter cable. Use an Y cable for powering more than one separate rows of switches. cteno4
To connect the two power adapter cables together you need to tape the blue spade connectors toghether tightly and then the same with the white spade connectors. Unfortunately kato does not male to male power cord premodern to connect the two accessory adapters together. Alternatively you could nip off the spade connectors and then strip the wires back a little bit and twist each together blue to blue and white to white and the tape them up. 24-843 power adapters (two needed) to wire together to make a male to male cable https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10003121 https://www.modeltrainstuff.com/kato-ho-n-24843-unitrack-adapter-cord/ 24-829 Power accessory adapter to snap on switch block and also on your power pack (two needed) and connect with your male to male cable above https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10003117 https://www.modeltrainstuff.com/kato-ho-n-24829-ac-adapter-for-kato-power-pack/ alternatively i I think you could use a 24-850 power feed control switch snapped onto your power pack and the plug the cable into a 24-829 power accessory adapter snapped onto your switch controller block. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10275141 https://www.amazon.com/Kato-24-850-Scale-Control-Switch/dp/B00KBQV0WA cheers jeff Link to comment
