sandiway
Can someone tell me why it seems that the Tomix Wide Tram sensor (S-37) is listed as not compatible (X) with Wide PC Rail here? Link to comment
katoftw
Compatible might be the wrong word. Looks more like chart chart of what sensor should be used with what type of tracks. Link to comment
JR 500系
Yes, there seems to be a specific sensor for each specific type of rail, like for the normal fine track, or the wide track, or the tram tracks, and mainly for ascetics purposes and better functionability, though WIDE tram sensors are surely connectable to WIDE tracks just that they don't look so nice. sandiway
Hmm, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - currently using 5567 sensors and cutting out the marked rectangle in S70s. Not that pretty. Maybe it's the 37mm length that's the issue? Wide PC track comes in 18.5, 33, 70, 72.5, 99, 140, 158.5, 280 lengths. Link to comment
katoftw
If you use 2x 18.5mm Wide PC track pieces, then you match the 37mm. Link to comment

I tend to think in chunks of 280/140/70 when I do my layouts. There's no reason to limit myself that way. And given https://www.tomytec.co.jp/tomix/products/n/1798.html, I see it's even possible to do 37 + 47.5 + 18.5 + 37 = 140 mm exactly! Link to comment
sandiway
My current sensors mounted inside S70 Wide PC rail: But I think the wide Tram sensors are prettier. Link to comment
sandiway
The transition between regular PC rail and Wide Tram looks a bit abrupt (see snapshot taken from Youtube below), maybe a bit better with Wide PC rail. Wide Tram is ok IMHO at stations. Link to comment
