Jes
Hi there, I'm building a micro layout with a couple of trams build on Tomix Hakotetsu units, but my trusty old Fleischmann transformer has trouble running them on slow speeds. Basically, it's stop or fast running, so I'm looking for a better controller. Can anyone recommend a good controller that lets me operate Hakotetsu units on slow speeds? As my 3-year old daughter also plays with my trains, I'm looking for a controller that's preferably really simple and solid. Link to comment
kvp
Anything with a good PWM drive would work. The modern Tomix CL and Kato DX controllers are good for this purpose. The idea is that instead of a linear analog voltage, the controllers use a Pulse Width Modulated drive, the same kind of high frequency signal that a DCC decoder would send to a motor. Jes
Thanks! I found a simple PWM controller from Minitrains (see here). Think I might try that one. Link to comment
