bill937ca
Besides being way behind on deliveries, Bombardier has now recalled 67 Toronto Flexity streetcars to correct a welding defect. https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2018/07/03/most-new-ttc-streetcars-to-be-shipped-to-quebec-to-fix-welding-defect-bombardier-says.html The problem with the streetcars is not a safety issue, Ross said, but rather a welding irregularity that will affect the cars' guaranteed service life of 30 years. Crews at Bombardier will need to strip the cars down to their frames and reweld the problem areas, a process that is expected to take as many as 19 weeks per car. Three to four streetcars at a time will be sent to Bombardier's plant La Pocatière, Que., for repair. Ross said TTC riders won't see a "disruption in service" during the work, which could take until 2022 to complete. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ttc-bombardier-streetcars-welding-problem-quebec-1.4732985 1 2 Link to comment
trainsforever8
It's really sad that such a big company is met with frequent issues regarding their products. Here in Montreal, they lost the contract for the REM to Alstom and while many people are disappointed because this will result in job loss at LaPocatière, I find this choice natural considering their recent history.
