bill937ca
Here is a list of Japanology shows on You Tube. Many focus on food and culture, but there is an interesting ekiben show. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd4V3I7nYybm4nKwONcOSdA/videos 1 Link to comment
bill937ca
Over seven years Begin Japanology aired 285 episodes. Several focus on railways. This an episode on subways. . You will see trams with dual trolley poles in the historic sequences in Tokyo. This was to prevent stray electric currents and was used in Havana, Cincinnati and London UK. After the war the dual trolley pole systems were phased out during the post-war reconstruction with the last dual pole trams gone by 1953. There is an interesting sequence on preparing the schedules showing the manual plotting of trains and in station observation of conditions. Presenter Peter Barakan tries his hand at a subway simulator, but fails to stop at the platform of a station. Edited June 3, 2019 by bill937ca Link to comment
