Khaul
A couple of days ago I went with the kids to the Omiya railway museum. They had a lot of fun. I think their indoctrination is now a couple of notches up :-) First we took the Tozai line and changed to the Yamanote line to Ikebukuro. There we transferred to a Shonan-Shinjuku rapid service to Omiya. Takadanobaba station, Yamanote line. In Omiya we took the New Shuttle for one station to the museum. A couple of Odakyu cars below. I did not have the time and the telephoto lens to take advantage of Omiya, but there is a lot going on there. In particular for my interests there is a lot of freight going through: container trains of course, but I also saw oil tankers (old and new), the zinc train, an empty coal train (I think). Plus Shinkansens, commuter trains of many colours, limited express trains... you name it and chances you'll see it around Omiya. I took a few pictures inside the museum, but I did not go crazy. A selection below: 40 series interior 40 series detail Another lovely train. I don't remember the series. This is me reflected in a gleaming EF66 Same EF66. Indoctrination at work! This little trains are pretty cool. They are equipped with either ATC or ATS. 7 Link to comment
JR 500系
I couldn't find the original Omiya Railway Museum thread, so sorry Khaul for hijacking your thread! Seems like you had great fun and I am sure to go there when I revisit Japan again (hopefully soon)… I read somewhere there are some new revamp to the Omiya Railway Museum, featuring an E5 Grand Class and a 400 series on display, and even has a brand new E5 simulator! 1 Link to comment
Khaul
Not a problem. Thanks for reviving the thread. Link to comment

There's a whole new extension to the south of the existing complex, seen here in May 2018: jr-omiya-e5-400-series by Rail Squid, on Flickr Also an E1 on display outside which wasn't there before:jr-omiya-e1-series by Rail Squid, on Flickr Edited June 30, 2018 by railsquid 3 Link to comment

JR 500系
More videos made on the new Omiya museum: I seriously don't like this guy... He talks WAY TOO FAST and sounds like he is mumbling... キユウ / Kiyu san is much better, clearer, and I like to watch his videos. Here he is testing out the E5 simulator! 1 Link to comment
