Chinese High Speed Trains

[Need for High Speed]

I have spent months searching only to find nothing, especially when it comes to HO scale Chinese High speed trains. 

 

I have found some Japanese Shinkansens in HO that I have plans of aquiring but still nothing from China. Their dose appear to be a CRH3 from Bachmann China. that I could get for about the price the Teshodo JR500 and Kato Hayabusa but the CRH3 is the one high speed train I dont like from China because it's just a copy of the German ICE and their is nothing special about it.

I would really want a dynamic 1:87 model  of the CRH380a or the CRH2c or the CRH5 none of which I can find anywhare no matter how hard I look and I finally found and contacted a train collector who's chinese and speakes english and they have said to me that their is not much in the form of High Speed from China and  I was very disapointed. 

 

So, how popular is model railroading in China? Is doing well, is it popular like it is in Japan, US and Europe? I would like some one to tell me. Most of what I can find seems to come from Hong kong. and even then its just mostly static models that I have fund which seem to be very expensive and are bulted to their frames and I did hear back from the person in China that they know people who have put motors in Static models. which is very difficult to do to on any type of static model that is not designed to run.

I am vary intrested in hearing if their is any product anouncements for Chinese trains. in HO

From what I have heard the best source for Chinese trains is dealers in Hong Kong.  I don't think the economy has moved to the point for the average person that hobbies are a big priority in China. I've seen mention that model trains are a luxury.  And it seems residences in many Asian cities are as space challenged as in Japan.Model trains are probably still something that is manufactured at work for foreign markets.

Thanks I have come across most of those sites but that wasn't the problem the problem was the trains I am looking for arn't really made at all and that's the problem and its one you can't do anything about. so JR500 and Hayabusa it is.

There IS a market in China. I do have a few friends from there that are into trains, both high speed trains to normal convetional ones, or the other loco-hauled type.

It does state if it has a motor to run though, but judging from the price it should only be a static model...

As far as i know that is an official gift from the rail company and afaik fully static (aka. screwed down del prado style). It's meant to be put on a shelf and not run. (it can be made operational though, but imho only the shells could be used for a kitbash)

 

Maybe there is a market for chinese prototype model trains in China, but not large or rich enough to be taken seriously. Most chinese prototype models that exist were either made for export or repaints of other prototypes that happen to be also used in China.

Yeah I know about that site. it does nothing to help because they dont make the high speed trains anywhare no matter how hard I look. They just don't make the CRH380a

Just look at the manufacturer list. Mostly japanese, american and a few european companies. There is at least one chinese too with one locomotive. Many of them were not even made in China and look to be aimed at western modellers.

I have some Bachmann HO Chinese models. An SY 2-8-2 I bought in a hobby shop in Beijing in 2007 after seeing real ones at work, a JS 2-8-2 and DF7G diesel I bought online later and a few freight and passenger cars but I haven't seen any high speed trains. Maybe if you don't have much room for a layout long high speed trains that need a lot of room to look right are not too popular.

i think there is a N scale CRH380A 3 car set dummy for sale somewhere.. you can motorize it with E2 shinkansen cars.

Bachmann did an 8-car HO scale CRH3 a few years ago.... Not sure if it's still available. For N scale, I know they also do a static 3-car CRH3.

 

I have seen KATO E2-1000s converted into a CRH2. The CRH2 cars share the same body shells as E2-1000 Series trains, although they are 8-car sets rather than 10 car sets.
