fadhhz
I though i'd share some of my take on mashing up vintage lenses and digital camera's . Might be useful for those who are interested! . Had a short dilemma on which lens should I get to jack up my A7's capabilities , save up for native FE mount glass , Adapted AF glass and so on. Then before long, the vintage glass lure came . Read about them online and tried a couple from my friends at the photo club. Not to mention, cheap but with good IQ. So I took the plunge , and got two of them for around 200 USD (adapters included). A Nikkor 35mm F2.8 and a Pentacon 135mm F2.8 ( did mention about the pentacon on another thread in here ) Both have great image quality and has their own " Character" to it, something I really like about these old vintage glasses. The Nikkon has great contrasts While the Pentacon is more soft and subtle . Both are sharp as well (though IMO the nikkor is the sharpest out of the two) The biggest downside to it is obviously its manual focus, and fixed vocal length as well. Though after a couple of practices I soon get the hang of it, the focus peaking and magnification in the EVF do help alot in this case. The focus ring was quick (though I have to ask the lens shop chap to make it slightly more slippery for the pentacon) and smooth. Against trains, it works quite well and for street it is perfect ( for the nikkor) . Definitely loving the images from these lenses! Against trains ( Nikkor 35mm) (pentacon 135mm) Street ( all using the nikkor) The last quirk, was the lack of EXIF data for the aperture, luckily lensTagger for lightroom solves all of this 2 Link to comment
