JR 500系
What better way than to place all the short 2 car sets into one bookcase for space saving and easier access... 7 Link to comment
serotta1972
I don’t understand, exactly how did improve your rolling stock by putting them in a different case. 🤔😜😁 3 Link to comment

Martijn Meerts
Probably the most important improvement you can make 😉 5 Link to comment
serotta1972
Yes, I agree that it’s very important. This topic might warrant it’s own thread “How to conceal your ever growing rolling stock”. 😀 6 Link to comment
cteno4
I think Sammy has a hidden closet built into their new condo to hide the train boxes... jeff 3 Link to comment
JR 500系
I'm actually quite amazed how some of you know me so much more than my Mrs... haha On another note, the Kato couplers are finally here and i can now join a Kato 813 to a GM 817 now! 5 2 Link to comment

EdF
Demotored one of my Series 285s, ran the 14 cars for an hours or so and it ran great. Next up is adding decoders, and demotoring one my E259s. Link to comment
railsquid
Finally fitted the front-end bits to my Chuo Line 201 series: Kato 201 series (Chuo Line) by Rail Squid, on Flickr 1 Link to comment
railsquid
Forgot to mention, I find when adding the antenna etc. to the roof, with the Kato EMUs I've been doing recently it can help enormously to open up the hole very slightly with a pin vise (typically with a 0.6mm or 0.7mm bit) if the part doesn't fit in easily. 1 Link to comment

Do you glue them in as well, or just press fit? Link to comment
railsquid
With these, press fit. The extra 0.05mm or so makes the difference between struggling to push the part in and risk it flying away, and having it fit in smoothly but firmly. IIRC I've had the opposite problem with some Tomix locos where the part has been too loose in the existing hole, there a dab of glue has been necessary. Kiha66
Tomix has been a mix for me, some parts are too tight while others are barely held in at all. Its odd how it can happen on the same model too. Link to comment
serotta1972
Finally replaced the couplers on the 70000 GSE and Kiha 261 and they look awesome. Tomix is making a killing on these TN couplers and they are always out of stock. 5 Link to comment

JR 500系
The TN couplers are amazing to look at indeed! However, I am starting to find problems running them on my layout... possibly due to the tight radius and the small gap that the TN couplers have introduced... And now we move on to the Seven Stars interior... Looks really good! I started with the dinning car first, and went on ahead to stick the twilight express dinning crew members into the dinning car... The Seven Stars decal even included decals to be pasted on the reverse side of the windows, showing the interior side of the window! You cant really see much though from the outside... Also, improved the interior lights further using the popondetta lights with energy charger... they are really nice and super flicker free as the charger really holds charge really well! 8 Link to comment

Then another friend told me to use a re-railer on the layout, which will help to assist the wheels to be re-railed back onto track, which in a way, sort of enlightens me what a re-railer is actually designed for... 🤣 1 Link to comment
Densha
Yeah, that radius is asking for problems. It is common knowledge that anything below ~R282 or something (don't know the specific radius) will lead to issues with full length trains. Link to comment
serotta1972
@JR 500系 those interior details and decals are insanely cool. I commend you for your patience. When is the next Singapore Model Train show? 😀 You have take those out and share with your fellow model railroaders or train collectors. Great job Sammy! You’re earning some major modeling creds man. I’m stuck at level .5 with my coupler replacements. 1 1 Link to comment

bill937ca
I run Kato 20m trains on R243 with no issues. Those trains being Tokyo Metro 6000 and a Micro Ace MSE 60000. Edited June 29, 2019 by bill937ca Link to comment
Das Steinkopf
My latest victim of physical abuse, Tomix DF200-216, I might have to tone down the soot as I feel it is a bit thick but the photos I have seen of the real thing it looks look pretty dark and heavy. I also had to do a subtle carving of the roof panels for the top sections, interestingly this is not a feature modelled on either the Tomix or Kato DF200 models, this also required painting that section of the roof a sandy grey colour. Normally I try and number my locomotives to ones that I have seen in the flesh this time however I put the DF200-216 number plates on instead of DF200-223, looks like I will need to go on another trip to see her.
