cteno4
There have been a few discussions on micro table saws to do small stuff. Over the last year or so there were some laser/CNC cut kits with 12 v motors and basically using large dremel cut off blades on ebay from china for $50-100. They were very rudimentary and could do a few small things, but really did not look with the money at all. Just saw a new option show up on ebay and Amazon. It's a small 4" Saw that uses a 24 volt motor. There are a few variants on it with some having 12/24v settings to get two speeds. No tilting arbor but you can adjust the height of the blade. Nice solid aluminum top with miter slots and easy to make a little cross cut sled for it to fit over the entire table. Few options for blades for it as some moulding saws use this size blade. They are all made and sold from china right now. At $100-150 (depending on sellers and extra parts) it looks like it's a pretty neat micro Saw for a modeler that does not want to spend a lot. Of course I've not laid hands on one to know. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-T5-Precision-Small-Table-Saw-Blade-DIY-Woodworking-Cutting-Machine-DC12-24V-/332409792494?hash=item4d652ae7ee:g:GaEAAOSwXfpZ3t4m Microlux (see micromark) has a couple, their entry baby's first 2 1/4" table saw is about $150. It's a nice tiny Saw for little bits and I picked one up a long time ago for $85 on sale and it's been handy mainly to rip up small stock. Downside is there are very few blades available for it. No blade tilt or lift. But at $150 it's not really worth it for it's limits https://www.micromark.com/MicroLux-Miniature-Table-Saw Micromark has their nicer mini 3 1/4" table saw that tilts and blade raises and lowers, but the price has gone up to $340 now! I got mine again on sale a while back to upgrade from the baby's first table saw for $220. It's a very nice Saw, but again it's now quite pricy. Blades are also limited and not cheap. https://www.micromark.com/MicroLux-Mini-Tilt-Arbor-Table-Saw-for-Benchtop-Hobby-Use_2 there is also the little mighty mite 4" Saw out there that's usually $50-100, but it's a pretty cranky little beauty and cast tables are pretty poor quality on the ones I've seen sold at hobby shows. there are. Few other higher end mini table saws out there as well, but they can get pricy. Again there is always the issue as well at getting the right sized blades for them as they can have odd arbor and blade diameters. cheers jeff 1 1 Link to comment
