Shinkansen Shop!!

JR Central will be opening the 'JR Tokai Railroad Club', an Online shop for Shinkansen related things. First it'll sell parts from the 700 series that actually traveled the Tokaido Shinkansen and watches used by the Tokaido Shinkansen crew. I hope they will ship outside of Japan also.

The builder plates in particular look cool, but it seems a little expensive.

I wouldn't mind the wristwatch but even if they do ship outside Japan, most of the items would be in limited supply and would likely sell out very quickly.

 

If the watches were in fact issued to train crew it would be nice if they came with a history of who used them or at least some sort of authentication if privacy was an issue.

The companies must at least have records about what services a driver or conductor worked, so if they know who owned the watch, they could take a guess at what runs the watch was on :)

I would assume the watches are from the spare stock as the personally issued ones are rarely taken back.
