What an interesting model, I wonder if you can actually pull it around a layout.  It would make a cool diorama at least, if you can find the support cars and some locomotives for it.  I may consider getting one depending on what the price will be.

Wow, that price seems very reasonable, I may end up getting one.  And the inclusion of a rapido coupler seems to indicate that it is indeed mobile, although adding metal wheels would probably help.

I ordered one, its simply to cool to pass up, and a very reasonable price. It will probably sit in the box for years before I get to build it, but I would think these will go quick and be hard to find down the road.

In N, you could get an M62, an old piko soviet passenger car and a boxcar as support cars. All of them have to be repainted though. Also this rig is only used on a straight dedicated track, so needs its own diorama.

It says it comes cast in eight different colors so I don't know how much actual painting would need to be done. I'm trying to convince myself I don't need this put Good Smile Company always put out quality products and this looks way too awesome to pass on. Just wish they'd included a locomotive with it that just happened to be sized to fit a motor unit.

In Baikonur, they used definitely also other locos in the past for the purpose of pulling large rockets out to the launchpad...

I've built a lot of spacecraft models during my youth, the Soyuz plus the transport car is definitely a must-have. Had a plastic kit (only the rocket) at that time. The current kit looks quite good to me. Adding some more detail and it is perfect.

 

Cannot be that hard to mod the bogeys by right ones. And in modern times ESA even launch it from Kourou. Thus, Roskosmos sells them if you can pay for.

So, - take a chance on one of these "what if's". I'm sure my DF200 can pull it as well. :D

What a fantastic thing... and yeah, great price, too.

 

My one complaint would be that at 1/150 it'll be too narrow gauge... should've made it more like 1/170 and then at least it'd better approximate being on Russian broad gauge. That aside, it's pretty cool...

Scale is never perfect... I think sometimes about when I see the (too broad) 9mm track in front of my EF65. I does not look perfect but I got used to. :/

I have this kit and am in the midst of the build - hope to complete by mid-December as a work colleague also has the kit under construction and we're letting staff judge our builds at our holiday party. Pre-colored plastic, snap fit. Some details (handrails among them) are a bit clunky. Lots of clean-up where parts are molded to sprues.

Why not just use an Alco? That’s what that locomotive was originally. Or the Russian clone of one of the ones sent over during Lend Lease in WW2.
