Drunkenclam
Although I'm not that skilled. I want to add crossing on a curve on my layout. It would probably be a kato road plate each side. With GM barriers. Just wondering if anyone had any tips. When I was looking for gates. I saw these...and wished I didn't. As now added to the must have list. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/m/10129900 Link to comment
cteno4
Cut to the curve of the track on a jig or band Saw. If not those then a hand jeweler's scroll Saw. They work well just slow and careful. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Metal-frame-saw-Wooden-handle-Jewelers-Tool-T1-/252479539272?epid=1680508606&hash=item3ac8f40848:g:XBwAAOSwXrhXmpk- Then carve out stuff under the road plate so the new cut curve is right against the track. You can trace the track outside radius on paper with a sharp pencil to get under side of the roadbed. there are some threads on rolling your own led lanterns but it is tedious work! jeff 1 Link to comment
Drunkenclam
great cheers. Got it, cut the plastic track base up to the rail on each side, Then use that as the template to cut the road plate. Link to comment
cteno4
Sure that will work fine! You can also just trace the rails on paper to get the template and then use that on the road and trim under the road to fit over the roadbed edge w.o carving up the track. Either way works fine!
