E4 MAX pantograph.

When I looked at my Kato Max, I realized, that the pantographs sink into the roof. I guess its due to height restrictions? Is there a section on the Shinkansen line, where this is necessary?

Simply because the E4 is a Double-Decker shinkansen that needs to run with the same gauge of conventional single-deck shinkansens.


Sinking pantographs into the roof is a common method in europe , where the loading gauge is smaller than the one of the united states, wich allows for Huge and Tall double-deck trains:
