The train is actually the Kato 10-354 Wow, that's a nice upgrade. I saw a couple of Tomix references; one was to an out-of-print Tomix decal sheet, that included small details the Kato model didn't, such as the signs for non-smoking cars. For the curious: The author completely repainted the set inside and out; on the outside, he was unsatisfied with the stock stripe color and placement, and the lack of glossy sheen. On the inside…well, you'll just have to click Alpine's link and see :D Link to comment

Bernard
It reminds me of the modeler who did modifications to his 787. I don't think I would have the "guts" to do something like what these modelers do for fear of ruining the model but it's exceptional work. Link to comment
CaptOblivious
The black-lining of the coolers and other detail with is particularly eye-catching, and now I'm thinking of trying that out—I have some water-soluble ink (Higgens "Eternal" permanent ink) I could try the technique with, and if I mess it up, the stuff just wipes off with a damp cloth (if you catch it before it sets, anyway). ("Eternal" indeed!) Link to comment
Claude_Dreyfus
Most impressive. I particularly like the Mount Fuji bridge diorama... Link to comment
