0 Shinkansen - Kato, Micro Ace or Tomix?

Unfortunately, I ordered the Tomix lights 😔 thinknig these would fit best.  Since each of these cars seem to be power-connected, I wonder if it would help to keep them from flickering. 🤔

It should. I always forget that the Tomix Shinkansen have these fiddly power-routing couplers 😅

 

That said the Popondetta/HKTILC lights are by far superior and it's best to keep that in mind when wanting to light up trains.

Yes the power routing couplers are fantastic for keeping lighting and train running constant and why i love tomix shinkansens! The couplers are not very fiddly once you do them a few times. Main issue is just having the coupler arm strainght when you couple the cars. After a few cars it becomes a reflex to straighten both and push together. Not any harder than some of the other odd shinkansen coupler system once you are using its some. May take a couple of minutes more to put out a full 16 car train but I thing thats worth the smooth running you get from it.

 

When they first came out and I got my first one i also bought a pair of power couplers figuring the new mech may be delicate, but ive never broken one yet in many years and many tomix power coupled shinkansens. I often wondered if tomix worried they might break as it was an easy spare part to get. Then i saw it the next few years on all the hs sales and wondered if they were not selling as not needed like my spares were.
