bill937ca
I don't know if we really want this--it may injure our pocket books--but here you are the latest new train (prototype) news on a dedicated web page from news.mynavi.jp . http://news.mynavi.jp/tag/newmodel/ http://news.mynavi.jp/travel/train/ 2 Link to comment
kvp
I don't know why, but most of these new sets look really bad to me. The ones i like from the opening page, one is not even a proper train but the new Nippori-Toneri AGV, the other is the Tobu 70000 which is more or less a Tokyo Metro 13000 with nicer colors. The museum and old train news are interesting though. Link to comment
bill937ca
These sets do all have a similar feel. Still think the trains of the first twenty years of privatization were generally better. Link to comment
railsquid
These Osaka "New Trams" should have their front ends covered in shrouds, then be pushed into the sea: http://news.mynavi.jp/articles/2017/03/26/newtram200/ 7 Link to comment

kvp
They aren't trams, but AGV (automated guideway transit) cars. I think they are really cute. For a hybrid bus/people mover, these vehicles look great. Actually i would love to have a powered AGV kit in N scale, similar to the Tomix bus system, just with elevated AGT tracks and side pickups for power. Compared to the 'meh' emoji face of the earlier 100A series, these new 200 series sets look much happier. Link to comment

bikkuri bahn
Psst, Socimi, you aren't supposed to speak ill of the Yamanote Line here, it's been deified... :) Link to comment
