I'm really hoping Tomix decides to offer the 3100s to go along with their 3000s - in both scales.

The English Wikipedia page on the 3100s implies only one two car set is being built. I assume this is incorrect? The Japanese website articles linked from the Wiki page that I checked don't say, either.

Afaik only 2 3000 series and 1 two car 3100 series were built. That is 4 new cars, while one moha2 was removed from service. Considering the 1000 series has 2 two car sets, while the 2000 series has 3 three car sets (upgraded from the original two cars) and the heritage stock is down to 4 moha1-s (two pairs) and at most 2 moha2, this should be more than enough for some time, unless the railway plans to retire 1000 or 2000 series sets. I would say another 3000 series could help to get every modern consist up to 3 cars, but this is not strictly needed.

In a list:

-moha1 (two cars): 2

-moha2 (one car): 2

-1000 series (two cars): 2

-2000 series (three cars): 3

-3000 series (one car): 2

-3100 series (two cars): 1

Possible consists:

-moha1 + moha2 (3 cars)

-moha2 + moha2 (2 cars)

-1000 series + 3000 series (3 cars)

-3000 series + 3000 series (2 cars)

-3000 series + 3100 series (3 cars)

So getting one more 3000 series to get a 3000 series pair for each 1000 series and to have a full 3x00 series 3 car train would be the better choice as it would allow 2 moha1+moha2 sets, 2 1000+3000 sets, 3 2000 series sets and 1 3000+3100 series set to be run with 8 trains on the line at the same time. This might actually be the upper limit of what the line could actually handle with trains in every block.
