Kiha66
New project time! I got some display cases from the local Daiso, and started to make some display scenes for my trains. First up I plan to make an elevated rail line on an enbankment, with a street and sidewalk on the lower level. After painting the base coats this afternoon, I realized I need to do some research on prototypical street markings. I'm thinking maybe a crosswalk and stoplight in the center of the scene? 5 Link to comment

I've been meaning to check Daiso if they had these display cases for the diorama that I'm going to make and this just reminded me to go! Which Daiso is this? The one near Mitsuwa? I'm actually surprised how many there are now! Just wondering if they carry different display case shapes. Thanks for posting the photos! Going to order some parts for my recreation of the Minami-Shiga station today! :) Link to comment

They run about $5 each for the largest ones, and although Pacific Coast Hobbies also caries them, they try to charge $10 per box. 1 Link to comment
cteno4
thanks. a few months back i ran across something with a 5 sided plastic box just about this size that was cheap and i thought "hey this would be a great little train display box" then of course the bright shiny objects have prevented me from remembering where i ran across it... age i guess. jeff 1 Link to comment
Kiha66
You can also buy them from daiso's web site, although they're not always available, they get a shipment every few months. I believe you have to order a case of 10, but for the price its not too bad. I've seen a few layouts made of tiny scenes connected together, that can be taken apart and displayed when not in use. 1 Link to comment

Kiha66
Little more progress today, finishing up the road and getting the embankment ready for vegetation. So far all paint other than the brown has been Tamiya, which I've been very happy with. The brown is a Mr. Color brand, that has ruined a brush and peels very easily, so I wont be using it after this project. Some tomytec vehicles arrived too, just in time to try them on the new road. Next up is laying the track, and ballasting. 3 Link to comment
adrianKeith
Neat! Looking forward to how you lay out the vegetation. I found a TON of different sized display cases at the Daiso off of Artesia just before the 91, btw. Probably about.. 5-7 different types with plenty in stock! Link to comment
