bill937ca
While browsing for something unrelated I came across this museum located in Takayama, about two hours from Nagoya. The place is called the Showa Kan (Showa refers to the time period, 1926-1989, and Kan means hall). Its a privately run museum focusing on the Showa period circa 1955 which is often the focus of Tomytec releases. There is a web site with an English page. http://takayama-showakan.com/ https://www.facebook.com/takayama.showakan/ Mr Toyopapa video. 3 Link to comment
JR 500系
Thanks for sharing this! Seems like a very interesting place to visit to get away from the ultra modern Japan, and not too far from the station! 1 Link to comment
enodenlover
I'd love to visit this place since it's the period that I'm modeling but unfortunately a trip to Japan isn't a possibility for me. But no Goji items on display? Does that mean that Toho's all-powerful attorneys have struck again? Link to comment
railsquid
It might mean Gozilla was not really all that big in 1955? Link to comment

The original Godzilla film was not released until November 3, 1954 so probably was not the cultural icon in 1955 that it later became. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_(1954_film) Link to comment
enodenlover
That's true but I noticed a few Ultraman toys among the displays and that character didn't make his debut until 1966. Link to comment
