Krackel Hopper
http://www.lok.jp/201sl/D51_560a.htm I recently ran across this steam locomotive from MicroAce. The model has the outline of what I believe to be a swan (maybe goose?) on the smoke deflector. However, all the images I've found of the actual locomotive do not have this detail. Can anyone point me in the direction of finding out where this locomotive ran, what it pulled, particularly while it wore this swan symbol? How long did it wear this swan symbol? Not sure if this is the best place for this post as I'm looking for info of the actual D51-560.. but asking because of the MicroAce model I've seen.. Thanks for any help on this! Suica
I don't know anything about the loco, but the mark on the smoke deflectors is a crane (Tsuru). Edited April 15, 2017 by Suica 1 Link to comment
velotrain
D51-560 was built by the Naeho factory in 1940. Currently located at the Hokkaido Muroran City " Youth Science Museum " http://www.geocities.jp/gucchi_ms/train/1/sl/d51/05/d51-560.htm This blog on Micro Ace steam locomotives shows many D51's, several with varying symbols on the smoke deflector. https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www5a.biglobe.ne.jp/~toyoyasu/mcat_1.htm&prev=search The site indicates that symbol is called Tsuru. It's unclear to me if this engine ever wore that mark, or if these symbols were applied at random by Micro Ace. 2 Link to comment
