KomachiMaster427
I'm going to be building a layout based in Shinjo to run the E3 Tsubasa and KIHA 110, 111, and 112 trains. I can't seem to find any information or pictures on what kind of track ends/buffer stops are used on the sidings in that area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Link to comment

KomachiMaster427
Thank you, that was quite helpful. I also didn't know that the station platform didn't run all the way through, so I'm going to have to make it a run through for continuos running. Link to comment
kvp
That would mean you have to add stairs from the overpass to the island platform then. (actual platforms: 2,4,5) http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/stations/e867.html Link to comment
ToniBabelony
Through running is impossible as the Shinkansen and the DMU run on different track gauges (resp. 1,435 and 1,067mm). Then again, it's your world and you can make it however you like. :) Edited April 7, 2017 by Kabutoni Link to comment
kvp
As the building looks like it was designed to allow the shinkansen to continue later, it could be built to show just that. This would mean the only cape gauge platform remaining would be platform 5 and platform 1 and 2 could branch and join to form the shinkansen loop while the rest of the cape gauge station is only connected to platform 5 and the cape gauge loop. The Ou mainline would be the same mixed gauge standard/cape gauge single track line instead of the current branching double track (Ou/Rikku lines) that goes out from the non shinkansen end of the station. The result would be 2 full shinkansen platforms and 1 cape gauge one with through running for both gauges. The Rikku branch (if built) could cross over the shinkansen line north of the station the same way the shinkansen line seem to cross over the cape gauge line south of the station for yard access. KomachiMaster427
Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm still thinking about how I want the layout to actually be, so I may consider going ahead and making it prototypical, and for through running, I may just run a switch to connect the upper Ou mainline to the track on the outer platform.
