Nagasaki Lantern Festival

During the Nagasaki Lantern Festival 15,000 lanterns are lit up along the streets of Nagasaki during the festival period (January 28 to February 15 in 2017). Most of the festival activities take place in the heart of the tram network around the triangle Y junction near Nishi Hamanomachi.

 

Nagasaki trams are generally rear entrance, front exit with the flat fare paid on exit. To speed loading Nagasaki Electric Tramway employs street loaders with a coffee pot fare box during this event.
