Hachioji Station junction - and 36/38 years later

I found this B&W image (10/1974) many months ago, and when I ran across the color photo (10/2010) yesterday, I immediately knew it was the same location, and for some reason was a bit surprised that the track layout hadn't changed more than it had.

It's interesting to note that the freight yard hasn't been totally scrapped, but two turnouts leading to it have been removed.

I must say this is a specific type of situation where I think the new guidelines decrease the quality of the forum, as we lose the ability to look at the images "side by side". 

 

I guess you could call it collateral damage in going from image-based to text/link-based.
