Unidentified Kintetsu set

This train starts with a 12200 2-car set, and then the Vista-EX 4-car set.

Can anyone identify the trailing 2-car set in this train?

The increased height and dark "horns" on the cab end initially led me to think that this was a 16600 or 22600 series, but I don't see side stripes at the non-cab end of the second car.  I also don't see that the blue band above the windows is significantly shorter at the non-cab end of the car, which is the case when the stripes are present.

Also, these horns have a straight border at the bottom, orange below this, and blue and white stripes lower down, similar to what is on the sides of the car.

I've looked at every Kintetsu set on HS - including sold out items, and just don't find any likely suspects.

In contrast, here is a similar train, but with a 22600 set at the front - note the shape of the horns and different overall cab end treatment.

It's just a guess, but the orange panel below the dark top of car front might be the asymmetric center door slid out of the way. That would make it a 22600. They have those blue stripes at window level only on one car on each side. This means that the back car has them and it's pair doesn't, exactly match the look of the 22600.

This photo from HS shows the door slid open, but:

-  I don't see the corner of the door in the original photo, and based on the perspective I would expect to

I don't see the black side window in the original photo

-  I don't see the blue and white stripes on the door

The white stripe in the original photo doesn't show up in any of the 22600 photos

The images on HS appear to indicate the blue window stripe on both sides of all cars

The very thin "white stripe" at the bottom of the side window sill but above the thick blue strip is just reflection of light.

If you look at the photo I provided, you'll see no "white strip" reflection as the camera angle is below the window sill.

Look at the top photo. If you zoom in, you can see the dark side window and the end of the middle dark curve of the front at the bottom left corner of the white equipment box. Also the orange plate is slightly in front of the black top corner as it casts a shadow. The blue and white door sripes are on the unit before the front. This car mostly blocks the view of the front and its end is right below the white equipment box. Its pair is the 3rd car and that shows the same line pattern. All doors on the 2nd car from the back are to the left of these two doors and also to the left from the top left edge of the sliding front door.

Thanks kvp - I appreciate your thorough explanation of the distinguishing details that I visually misinterpreted.

I believe these "mash up" looking formations are limited express trains that travel from Osaka Abenobashi and Kintetsu Nagoya Stations down the Mie Peninsula as far as Kashikojima, the end of the Shima Line.

Based on their network map and listed routes, the Mie Peninsula trains start at Osaka-Uehommachi, and the Osaka-Abenobashi line runs to Yoshino?

They appear to prefer buying 2 or 4 car trainsets, but seem to run a fair number of 6 or 8 car trains - at least on the routes that use the 30000 Vista-Ex.  Perhaps that's for flexibility of operations.

Here's a video of various Kintetsu trains moving through Yamato-Saidaiji Junction - at eight times actual speed.

I don't notice very many "mash-ups" in videos, so wonder if there seem to be a lot of photos of them just because railway photographers find them more interesting than the regular trains - which only seems natural.

Interesting Video! Amazing Hanshin trains share the tracks with Kintetsu ones?

I have always loved the vast variety of formations Kintetsu runs their trains... Hence my favorite private rail company after Odakyu! Somehow, those Ace 22600 or 16400 just keep growing on me with their bright orange coloring...

Just curious, what was the train seen at 1:12? Doesn't look like a Kintetsu or Hanshin train...

That's a 10 series from the Kyoto Subway Karasuma Line, which has through-services to the Kintetsu Kyoto Line. At the same time, some Kintetsu trains also continue along the Karasuma Line instead of terminating at Kintetsu Kyoto station.

I find them to be rather interesting looking units.
