bill937ca
I received a HS shipment of small track pieces yesterday and was surprised to see that most of the pieces were made in Japan. A 91010 Finetrack Wide Track set that I purchased in 2013 was made in China. A 91010 set I purchased this month was made in Japan. I wonder if the shift from 2 pieces per package to 4 pieces per package was made along with a decision to shift production back to Japan. But the 91010 package insert is now cardboard instead of the foam like material used when this item was produced in China. I checked some of my traditional Tomytec items and they still appear to be made in China. Perhaps Tomix has stricter tolerances and higher margins. Many of the Tomix pieces snap together: viaduct track, overhead track and bridges all use snap clips. Whereas many Tomytec items are almost decorative by comparison and use tabs for fitting pieces together. 1 Link to comment
Rod.H
I noticed the same thing with my recent order. However, the feeder wire was marked 'made in China'. Link to comment
