Urban freight in Osaka.  West Japan Railway Umeda-kamotsu Line on the surface and Osaka Loop Line and Fukushima station on the viaduct. A great prototype for those with limited space.

An evening of Osaka and Fukushima Station [Osaka Loop Line Umeda freight line] 16.11.06 by You Tube Ogachii walk. Lots of trains from different angles. This station is one stop from JR Osaka station.

You see passenger trains on that surface line at Fukushima Station because (I believe) that was the old Umeda Freight Line, which served that Umeda Freight Terminal before it closed a few years ago. The Haruka airport express train from Kansai International Airport uses this line, which will soon be realigned to get new underground platforms very close to Osaka Station.

Haruka and Kuroshio will use it.

There's also now talk of a new alignment to build a station (North Umeda) on this line so that you can get on these express services from Osaka Station.

I remember reading that JR West does have plans to realign the former Umeda Freight Line so the Haruka and Kuroshio trains can stop at a new underground platform within close walking distance of the current JR West Osaka Station.
