JR 500系
Heard from the news this morning too... it seems that the sink hole is quite big, something like 30m x 20m x 10m high! Luckily, only one eldery lady around age 70+ was injured in this episode... Link to comment
bill937ca
Just like the sinkhole in Ottawa this year. Link to comment
cteno4
i think the lady was injured at home by falling when the power went out due to the sinkhole. jeff Link to comment

cteno4
Wow that was fast! Last sentence of the article seems off though... "Before-and-after-photos showed how a team of workers took just six days to repair gaping cracks up to 150 metres along a stretch of road north of Tokyo, boosting attempts by emergency and aid workers trying to reach hundreds of thousands of survivors." Not sure who the aid workers were that needed that street to get to some other disaster? Jeff Link to comment
kvp
That's a link to another story, that was a highway repair north of Tokyo. Link to comment
cteno4
ah whoops, mea copa! i skipped the first part of the sentence there. my dyslexia tends to make what shows up in my head sometimes to be very edited bits! jeff Link to comment
marknewton
One thing I'm curious about is whether the sinkhole was actually caused by the subway construction work? Cheers, Mark. Link to comment
katoftw
Still in investigation. Probably will be for some months. Link to comment
