Yamanote-sen

This is an N gauge layout web site showing a modeler's progress.  There are some photos of Japan, but these seem to be reluctant to open up.  But once they open up there is some interesting detail shots. Although it's called Yamanote-sen the layout focuses on mountains and rivers rather than urban landscape.

An amazing find, Bill. I love it. Where'd you see this?

I was searching in Google for the old train museum (Transportation Museum) in Akihabara.  Kind of nostalgia for the way it used to be with the train museum and model trains in the several stores around Akihabara.  Now the Akihabara Department Store is gone, the Transportation Museum is gone, the arcades are starting to close and Akihabara seems to be becoming more of an high rise office and tourist attraction area.

The transportation museum moved to Saitama -- it was supposed to open in October. I know this because I stood at the door and read the sign which said it would be closed for the duration of my stay in Japan.

As for the website, the pictures load slowly, because the whole works is running off a server in my living room. If you give it time they should work. They're also flash based, so that could be causing the problem. Disabling Javascript will cause them to load without the fancy gallery plugin.

As soon as my useless contract runs out, I should be moving to a faster ISP, which should solve  a lot of problems.
